20 June – 24 June 2019
2 October – 7 October 2019
Inspired by Pam’s book of the same name, the retreat will help you to fall under the magic which horses can share with us if we allow them. Merging energetically with the herd in their natural landscape, you are able to completely switch off, return to yourself, and see the life challenges you face in a new light. Time to seek whatever healing it is you seek, in the most natural way possible. The spiritual dialogue which occurs with the horses is at the same time both shared and also private, so although this is a group experience there is space for your own inner exploration.
We start at 3pm on Day 1, allowing you time to arrive and settle in. Check in is 1pm onwards and lunch is available. On Day 5 we finish with lunch at 1pm, and check out is 2.30 pm.
We structure the days very much based on the prevailing weather conditions, to make sure that you are working with the herd at a time which is most comfortable for you and them. We begin each day, after breakfast, with a shared meditation or mindfulness ‘moment’ before we proceed to integrate and work with the horse herd. From there the shape of the day emerges according to the needs of the group and involves both group and individual encounters with the horses. Activities may include meditations, play, reflection and creative time. ‘Activity’ might also be not doing anything at all, instead finding a peaceful place of ‘being’ amongst the calming energy of the herd at the heart of their home.
No experience of horses is required, and no riding is involved. Please let us know when booking if you have an allergy to horses however. You are encouraged to bring a journal, your art materials if you like to draw or favourite meditation blanket, yoga mat or similar if you have one! All accommodation is on a shared kitchen/shared bathroom basis although never more than two people sharing a bathroom.
We invite all participants to join in the community regime for the horse and human herd. For the horses this might include feeding, seasonal daily care required and paddock cleaning and for the human herd, laying table, clearing and washing dinner plates or picking produce from the vegetable beds. Breakfast is self-service and you are asked to clear away your own breakfast things.
To book a place please first check availability with Pam on firstname.lastname@example.org and then write a short letter of introduction – about no more than a page long – outlining what draws you to come on the retreat and saying a little about what you would like to gain from joining it. Once accepted onto the programme you will need to pay in full via PayPal in order to confirm your place. This is refundable less a 10% administration fee should you cancel with more than four working weeks’ notice. In the unlikely event that the programme is cancelled by us for any reason, full refund is given.
