This tranquil corner of North West France has been our home since October 2018. I have called my house La Source because of the many underground springs which irrigate the pastures, and the principal spring which gurgles down the hillside into the stream below. Here you can sink into a profound developmental experience with the horses, whether it be on one of our residential retreats or tailored development weekends. At La Source you will feel embraced by the gently undulating land and the wildlife which thrives. There are birds of all shapes and sizes, and you may see deer, wild boar or foxes as they pass through the valley.
The horses’ habitat is designed to not only keep them healthy but also to allow our guests to live closely amongst them. There are quiet, secret little spots situated near their resting places where you can sit, write, draw, meditate or listen to the soft song of the running stream nearby. This closeness to nature and the herd and the simplicity of the contact is the essence of the experience which you will have at La Source.
Our residential accommodation comprises:
Honeysuckle : a two bedroomed first floor apartment (one double and one single bedroom) with shower room, kitchen and spacious lounge. Double French windows open onto the terrace with glorious views of the land and surrounding countryside and access into the main gardens and barbecue area. The terrace also looks across to the horses’ corral where they spend much of their time.
Rose Cottage: this tiny building once housed the hamlet’s bread oven and has since been sympathetically transformed into a peaceful, pretty one-bedroom cottage. Downstairs there is a small living/kitchen area with kitchen and shower room. Upstairs is a spacious bedroom with double bed (please note the beams are very low). There is a wild flower garden, with views across the water meadows, parking and outdoor barbecue area. Rose Cottage is situated at the end of the hamlet, away from the main house and barns, and feels secluded and peaceful.

We are situated near Villaines La Juhel a small market town in East Mayenne. This is a pretty, agricultural area with vibrant villages and towns. We are close to Les Alpes Mancelles, an area of outstanding natural beauty which with its rivers and hills offers beautiful terrain for walking and cycling. Ten miles to the South there lies the forest of Sille le Guillaume with its lovely lake and man made beach, and miles of trails for walking and cycling.
Travel to La Source from the UK via ferry and car, by train to Le Mans or Evron, or flight to Nantes, Paris or Tours. Pick-up and drop off available from Le Mans, not included in prices shown.
